VA Disability Representation Nationwide & Overseas
Oakridge Claims is a VA-accredited claims agent practice specializing in appeals. VA accreditation under 38 C.F.R. § 14.629 is federal — it authorizes us to represent any U.S. veteran, in any state or U.S. territory, and veterans living abroad. Our practice is locally rooted in Southern California's Coachella Valley, and we handle the entire appeal remotely from decision review to final outcome.
Any State. Any U.S. Territory. Any Country.
VA accreditation is issued by the federal government under 38 C.F.R. § 14.629. There is no state-by-state licensing — an accredited claims agent can represent any U.S. veteran regardless of where the veteran lives. Oakridge Claims represents veterans in all 50 states, in U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands), and overseas.
The entire claims process is handled remotely — secure document intake, phone and video conferences, evidence development, and filing through the VA's electronic systems. You do not need to live near our office or travel to work with us.

Coachella Valley — Local Representation
Oakridge Claims is based in the Coachella Valley. We understand the specific regional challenges veterans here face — from access to care at the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System Palm Desert CBOC to navigating claims processed through the San Diego VA Regional Benefit Office, which handles claims for much of the Inland Empire and desert region.
Veterans in the desert communities often face longer wait times for C&P examinations, limited local specialist access for nexus opinions, and geographic distance from the regional benefit office where their claims are processed. We factor those realities into how we build and develop each case.
"Veterans in the Coachella Valley deserve the same quality of claims representation as veterans in any major metro area. Geographic distance from the regional office should never be a disadvantage."
What We Handle
Oakridge Claims provides full-service VA disability appeals representation. Every case is developed intentionally — with attention to medical evidence, regulatory theory, and record support. We do not operate on volume. We build cases that are structured to withstand scrutiny at every level of the adjudication process. We specialize in post-decision appeals and also accept initial claims and claims for increase based on case fit and current availability — never for a fee, since VA rules prohibit charging before a decision. Free, accredited VSO assistance remains an option at that stage.
Appeals After Denial
Full development of appeals after a VA denial — Supplemental Claims, Higher-Level Review, and Board appeals — under 38 C.F.R. § 3.303, § 3.307, § 3.309, and related regulations.
Supplemental Claims
New and relevant evidence development for previously denied claims. Identification of evidence gaps and targeted record development before refiling.
Higher-Level Review (HLR)
Strategy development and informal conference preparation for HLR requests. Identification of clear and unmistakable errors in prior ratings decisions.
Secondary Service Connection Appeals
Appeals of denied claims under 38 C.F.R. § 3.310 for conditions caused or aggravated by existing service-connected disabilities. Initial secondary filings are accepted case-by-case, and a free VSO is always an option.
Nexus & Medical Evidence
Coordination and review of nexus opinions and DBQs. Evaluation of C&P examination adequacy and identification of examiner errors or omissions.
Underrating & Effective-Date Disputes
Review of existing ratings for accuracy under 38 C.F.R. Part 4 when the rating was set too low on the evidence VA already had. Worsening-condition increases are new claims — accepted case-by-case, with a free VSO always an option.
Our Approach
Every case starts with a thorough review of the existing record — service treatment records, prior rating decisions, medical history, and claim history. We identify the correct legal theory of service connection, the evidence needed to support it, and the gaps that need to be filled before filing. We do not file claims that are not ready to be filed.
Regional VA Resources for Southern California Veterans
Understanding the VA facilities and offices that serve your region is an important part of navigating the claims process. Below are the key VA resources serving Southern California veterans. Note that your claims are processed by your regional benefit office — not your healthcare facility — and those are separate systems.
San Diego VA Regional Benefit Office
8620 Spectrum Center Blvd., San Diego, CA 92123 — Processes disability compensation claims for Southern California veterans including Riverside and San Bernardino counties. This is the office that rates and decides most Coachella Valley and Inland Empire claims.
Official site →VA Loma Linda Healthcare System

Official site →VA San Diego Healthcare System

Official site →West Los Angeles VA Medical Center
11301 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90073 — Serves veterans in Los Angeles County. Claims for LA County veterans are processed through the Los Angeles VA Regional Benefit Office.
Official site →Riverside County Veterans' Services
County-level VSO services for Riverside County veterans. Free county-provided assistance with benefits navigation and referrals. Not a substitute for accredited representation in complex or denied claims.

Important Distinction
Your VA healthcare facility and your VA Regional Benefit Office are separate systems. Where you receive medical care does not determine where your disability claim is processed or decided. Understanding which regional office has jurisdiction over your claim is important for tracking status, requesting records, and understanding appeal timelines.

Our Fee Structure
Oakridge Claims operates under VA fee guidelines established by federal regulation. As a general overview:
- ★Appeals first — we specialize in post-decision appeals and accept initial claims based on case fit and current availability; a free, accredited VSO is always an option at that stage. No fee is ever charged before VA issues a decision.
- ★Contingency-based fees for appeals and increased ratings — fees are only collected if we win.
- ★No markup on third-party services — nexus letters, DBQs, and independent medical opinions are coordinated at cost.
For the complete fee schedule and a full explanation of how VA fee regulations work, visit our Fees page.
Decision review options
VA decision review is federal and identical everywhere. If you already have a rating decision, one of these three lanes applies. Which one fits depends on the evidence in your file — not on where you live.
Higher-Level Review
A senior reviewer takes a second look at the same evidence for a difference of opinion or a clear error. No new evidence is allowed.
How Higher-Level Review worksSupplemental Claims
The lane for new and relevant evidence — new records, a new exam, or a nexus opinion the VA did not previously have.
Filing a Supplemental ClaimBoard Appeals (BVA)
Review by a Veterans Law Judge in one of three dockets: Direct Review, Evidence Submission, or Hearing.
Board Appeal dockets explainedNo outcome is promised or implied. Nothing here is legal advice, and representation begins only after a signed fee agreement and VA Form 21-22a.
